Realizing My Gift: Gentle Spirit Hands Were Pushing Me Forward
From a very early age, I was always told I was “too sensitive” in how I sometimes reacted emotionally to people or situations around me. I never could understand, even at such a young age, what “too” sensitive meant. After all, if that was how I felt … then how was that wrong?
Not coming from a spiritually oriented family I went through my early adult years in a spiritual void, I guess you’d say. I was feeling something “different” inside, but couldn’t put my finger on what it was I was feeling different about.
Over the years, I was curious and investigated many different spiritual and metaphysical teachings, but nothing seemed to really settle within me.
But then, around 1983, the Universe positioned me to be in the right place at the right time, and through a quick series of three events taking place … I was enrolled in Psychic Development classes at the Michigan Metaphysical Society (MMS), under the tutelage of Irene Rucinski, who was a very gifted psychic practitioner.
I was blessed to have had that unique opportunity to study with her week after week for a solid year. And what an amazing year that was! Irene told me it was very rare that her classes, broken into four multi-month segments, would ever have enough students (usually 4 – 8 at most) to continue smoothly from beginning to end. As a matter of fact, there were only four of us that made it all the way to the end of the fourth and final segment of training. I looked at that as just one more indication that I was meant to be under her wings.
Through her guidance, I quickly found that psychometry (a psychic ability in which a person can sense or “read” the history of an object by touching it) was very easy and natural for me. We practiced over many weeks with items that only she knew the particulars about. Each week, we had to give a detailed reading to her on our impressions of an object we were holding.
I discovered that in addition to accurately sensing things about the objects I held, I had the gift to see (clairvoyant) and/or hear (clairaudient) information that pertained to the item. Everything I was feeling and sensing was a bit startling to me, not only because I was correctly relating information pertaining to what I was holding in my hand, but more so because Irene kept affirming how accurate I was.
It wasn’t long before I asked her, “But what do I ‘do’ with this ability?” In a nutshell, her reply was, “My dear, it is a gift. You should do psychic readings for people.”
I was quite skeptical, to say the least. Though I obviously was extremely interested in the metaphysical side of life, nevertheless part of me was pooh-poohing what was coming through me. As a matter of fact, Irene told me to always remain somewhat skeptical of everything in life and in that way I would always remain an “investigator.” She taught her students to always keep looking, searching, and asking for answers.
So, after graduating from the Psychic Development classes, Irene encouraged me to participate in the “Psychic Fun Night” MMS put on every week. There were a select number of readers and practitioners who offered mini-readings to a throng of eager people who would line up, money in hand, waiting to be sent to the next available psychic. I hesitantly agreed to participate; this was my first time going “public.”
Through the very first intuitive readings that I gave to complete strangers, I found I evidently did indeed have “the gift,” and those people wanted to know how they could come to me for more private and lengthy consultations.
Well, things blossomed from there and I was soon seeing private clients, and doing corporate parties, non-profit fundraisers, and the like. I was getting quite busy. My referrals were growing and I was pleased that I was able to help people who were in need of insight and clarity regarding situations in their lives. And so it continues onto today.
I pray that my gift will be utilized as a help and blessing to others.
With Love, Light and Blessings,
